Arvada Appliance

Arvada Appliance RepairWhile I can’t tell you who to call for Arvada Appliance repair, I can certainly tell you who not to call: Jensen Appliance. These guys have taken more of my money than I care to admit. I’ll be blunt: Jensen Appliance is the most expensive, unreasonable service repair company I have ever known. At 4304 Kipling Street, Jensen Appliance is technically located in Wheat Ridge, just close enough that Arvada residents might be tempted to use them if they don’t know better. I’m hear to help you know better. I will let the facts and history of my relationship with Jensen do the talking for the rest of the article.

Jensen Appliance KitchenAid Refrigerator Nightmare

I’m almost embarrassed to share the details because it makes me look like such an unwise, sucker, but here goes:
When we moved into our house five years ago, we inherited a very large, cabinet-depth, custom, Kitchenaid refrigerator. This appliance has been nothing but problems since we bought it and because it fits the kitchen so perfectly, we’ve been hesitant to replace it. Without having much experience with Arvada appliance repair companies, we located Jensen in Wheat Ridge and gave them a call. They came out and assessed that the refrigerator needed a new compressor. At $800.00, I could practically buy a new refrigerator, but Jensen assured me that this special, custom sized unit was made for our home and worth at least $5,000. We reluctantly agreed to pay $800.00 to get the compressor replaced. After Jensen Appliance left our home, the refrigerator still wasn’t getting cold. We called them and they assured us that sometimes the freon just needs to be charged. Fair enough, so I thought.

S&N Lawnmower

S&N LawnmowerS&N Lawnmower is one of those places that treats you so well you can’t wait to have a reason to go back. In Arvada, where we take pride having green beautiful lawns in the spring, summer and early fall, there is usually a good enough reason to visit S&N Lawnmower at least once a year. In addition to having a huge selection of new and used Lawnmowers, S&N also provides mower parts, accessories, tillers, trimmers, edgers and other services to keep your lawn-care equipment running in tip-top shape. If you need your lawnmower blade sharpened they’ll usually do that for you while you wait, depending on how busy they are at the time you visit. If you plan on visiting during the morning hours of a spring or summer day, expect them to be plenty busy. They are only open until noon on Saturday’s, so expect a long, but fast moving line of satisfied customers taking care of their lawn equipment needs. No matter how busy they are, however, it amazes me at how friendly, kind and quickly the service is at S&N Lawnmower.  Read the rest of this entry

Arvada Rent-Alls

Arvada Rent-Alls

Propane Refills

Arvada Rent-Alls is another one of those companies in Arvada that is nice to do business with. Finding Arvada rentals is not something I ever had to search the phone book or internet directories to find. Arvada Rent-Alls is right near home at 10675 Ralston Road. That’s between Kipling and Simms, right on the north side of 64th; less than two miles from my home and right across the street from Arvada West High School. Nothing could be more convenient in the spring and summer when we’re looking at those outdoor projects. While I’ve never actually rented any equipment from them, I’ve used Arvada Rent-alls many times to get my propane tanks filled for the grill. They make it so easy and quick; drive to the front of their gate with your tank; ring the buzzer if no one is there (usually there is), and within seconds a courteous employee will be filling your propane tank. The price for a refill is cheaper than an exchange at King Soopers and other local grocery retailers. Even though a propane tank is a small order, they actually smile at you and act as though they are glad you’re a customer. I’m amazed at the large inventory that Arvada Rent-Alls both sells and rents: Read the rest of this entry

Colorado Engine

Colorado EngineColorado Engine has been doing car repairs in Arvada since 1983. The Colorado Engine website describes them as being the largest, independent crate Engine and Transmission warehouse and installation shop in the Rocky Mountain region.  Don’t worry if you’re not in need of an entire transmission or engine.  Colorado Engine does it all; from simple oil changes and alignments to brakes, radiator replacements to entire engines and transmissions.  I’ve had a chance to use Colorado Engine on three different occasions for two different used cars: My 1997 BMW 540i and 2003 Volkswagen Jetta of my son’s.

Before I explain the repairs I had done on these cars, let me explain in one word why I will continue to use Colorado Engine:  Trust. The fact that they have been in business since 1983 shows in the way they handle and treat their customers.

Arvada Hair Salon

Arvada Hair SalonI Found a new Arvada Hair Salon.
What a treat! Sometimes the best things are just right around the corner. In this case, I found two of them; practically right next door to each other.

Local Arvada Hair Salon Offers Great Service and Hair Cuts

I stopped into D’Ametri’s on my way to Primo Vino (for a wine tasting). This Arvada Hair salon has always looked inviting, chic and professional, but I’ve never been in for any service and thought I’d give them a try. Lucky for me, they did have a spot left open for an appointment with just enough time for me to kill a little bit of time down the street doing more important things like and selecting new wines! After sampling a few wonderful wines from Washington (this could be another story if I had more time, ha ha) I walked the short walk back to D’Ametri’s (right around the corner from The Archive Room). I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and offered a beverage. I didn’t have to wait long before I was taken back to get some work done on my hair. Renee, my stylist, was cheerful and professional. She listened carefully as I explained what I wanted to do with my hair which according to my husband, Rob, is always a work in progress in which I am never satisfied. The scalp massage after my wash was just what I needed after a long day of work! I didn’t realize how relaxing and rejuvenating a simple hair cut could be. Maybe it was just the buzz from the wine; the great hair cut; or both, but this was a great way to start the weekend! I loved my cut and style and happily scheduled my next appointment before I left. The salon uses Aveeno products which boasts benefits of living green. I enjoyed my first time experience at this gem, right in Olde Town Arvada!
