Chit Chat Bistro

chit chat bistroChit Chat Bistro is an elegant, quaint and cozy little restaurant in west Arvada with somewhat of a unique, Euro / Mediterranean feel and atmosphere. The place is kind of like going into a small European café. When you walk into Chit Chat Bistro, you are greeted with racks of wine lining the way to your seat. There is a bottle of wine at each table and the bar is right within view and just a few feet of the dozen or so tables. This certainly sets the mood for a good glass of red wine. Quite honestly, the timing of our visit was disappointing.

Colorado Engine

Colorado EngineColorado Engine has been doing car repairs in Arvada since 1983. The Colorado Engine website describes them as being the largest, independent crate Engine and Transmission warehouse and installation shop in the Rocky Mountain region.  Don’t worry if you’re not in need of an entire transmission or engine.  Colorado Engine does it all; from simple oil changes and alignments to brakes, radiator replacements to entire engines and transmissions.  I’ve had a chance to use Colorado Engine on three different occasions for two different used cars: My 1997 BMW 540i and 2003 Volkswagen Jetta of my son’s.

Before I explain the repairs I had done on these cars, let me explain in one word why I will continue to use Colorado Engine:  Trust. The fact that they have been in business since 1983 shows in the way they handle and treat their customers.

City Pizza Arvada

Best Pizza in Arvada

Best Pizza ArvadaCity Pizza & Pasta makes the best Pizza in Arvada: Hands Down. Now, if you like a gooey pie dough like Beau Jo’s or a corn-meal crust like Little Caesar’s or Pan Pie crust like Pizza Hut, City Pizza is not for you. But, if you like a real, New York style, Italian Pizza crust then, you’ll agree with me that the best Pizza in Arvda is City Pizza & Pasta on 80th and Kipling. City Pizza & Pasta is what Anthony’s Pizza wishes it could be. Anthony’s Pizza is okay if you like a decent crust and a lot of grease. City Pizza has an authentic version of Italian style crust which is slightly better for holding the quantity of ingredients. It is slightly thicker, more robust on the bottom and airy and light on the inside just the way a New York style pizza should be – but a little thicker and with less grease. The toppings and sauce are better and more plentiful and there is just the right amount of quality, mozzarella cheese. I’ll admit that I haven’t tried every little pizza joint in Arvada, but City Pizza is the most substantial Pizza I’ve had just about anywhere in the Denver metro area. The pizza reminds me a little bit of the old Manders Pizzeria on 72nd and Federal in Westminster which was a family favorite of ours when I was a kid. That was back in the pre-Dominoes day before a whole slew of pizza chains opened up and sort of made people forget what a good pizza crust looked and tasted like.

Arvada Hair Salon

Arvada Hair SalonI Found a new Arvada Hair Salon.
What a treat! Sometimes the best things are just right around the corner. In this case, I found two of them; practically right next door to each other.

Local Arvada Hair Salon Offers Great Service and Hair Cuts

I stopped into D’Ametri’s on my way to Primo Vino (for a wine tasting). This Arvada Hair salon has always looked inviting, chic and professional, but I’ve never been in for any service and thought I’d give them a try. Lucky for me, they did have a spot left open for an appointment with just enough time for me to kill a little bit of time down the street doing more important things like and selecting new wines! After sampling a few wonderful wines from Washington (this could be another story if I had more time, ha ha) I walked the short walk back to D’Ametri’s (right around the corner from The Archive Room). I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and offered a beverage. I didn’t have to wait long before I was taken back to get some work done on my hair. Renee, my stylist, was cheerful and professional. She listened carefully as I explained what I wanted to do with my hair which according to my husband, Rob, is always a work in progress in which I am never satisfied. The scalp massage after my wash was just what I needed after a long day of work! I didn’t realize how relaxing and rejuvenating a simple hair cut could be. Maybe it was just the buzz from the wine; the great hair cut; or both, but this was a great way to start the weekend! I loved my cut and style and happily scheduled my next appointment before I left. The salon uses Aveeno products which boasts benefits of living green. I enjoyed my first time experience at this gem, right in Olde Town Arvada!
